While tramping around the mountainside filled with pine trees below the Himalayan range one early morning, I reached this small village where a cow stood inside a pen right beside the houses with their stone walls and slate roofs. She must’ve been waiting to be fed for she started mooing softly at first and got louder as I came nearer whereupon seeing that I carried a camera and  tripod but not grass, she turned away her gaze. It took me some time to get her attention once again and turn her head towards me. The moment she did, I shot this. The soft, yellowish lighting of the morning sun reminded me of a Vermeer painting.
