You take a cogwheel train to what they call the Top of Europe which is the highest train station in the continent located 3,454 meters above sea level on top of the Swiss Alps in Jungfraujoch. They built a 7 km. long tunnel in 1912 through the rock face of the Eiger with a steep 25 % gradient. The whole trip takes about 50 minutes and stops at one station called Eigerwand where the train stops and passengers are given 5 minutes to view the the icy world through a hole blasted out of solid rock. This is the breathtaking view that awaits you once you peer through the window sealed with thick, clear glass.
