The Grand Canal in Venice is the main focal point of the city specially so by the banks of the Piazza San Marco where you can see gondolas bobbing up and down on the water. Across it sitting on an island is the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore with its ornate bell tower built in the Renaissance period of the 16th century. I happened to pass by here one morning when there were still so few tourists around and espied this woman sitting on the stone steps looking across the canal. What made her so striking was her red dress and her wavy blonde hair glistening in the early morning sun. I thought she was all by herself but then I realized she was posing for a magazine photoshoot!
