This is one of the best places to see in the South Island of New Zealand. This fjord is known for towering jagged mountain peaks, plus rainforests and waterfalls which plummet down its sheer sides. The waterway meanders inland for 15 kms. from the Tasman Sea and is the home to seals, penguins and dolphins. We took one of the boats that ferries tourists around the breathtaking scenery for 2 hours. It was worth the long drive to and from Queensland where we stayed which was 290 kms. away.
